The Ultimate Guard SuperHive 550+ is one of the newest additions their line of card storage, featuring two main compartments for cards and a prized playmat with a smaller tray for dice. It can hold roughly 550 double-sleeved cards, or about 650 single sleeved cards for your cube. In addition to loose cards, the SuperHive 550+ continues the tradition of Ultimate Guard products playing well with each other, accommodating a variety of deckboxes in its outer compartment. I was able to fit five of the 100 card Boulders in it without any issues, six of the 80 card Boulders, or four of the 80 card Sidewinders without any issues. You could also fit five of the 100 card sidewinders, but hopefully by now you get the picture – the SuperHive works well with its smaller counterparts, and provides a great way to store all of your compatible deckboxes in one place.

The Dex Protection Supreme One Row is designed to store large collections of cards, like a cube or perhaps a Modern or Legacy gauntlet. It can hold about 550 double-sleeved cards, or about 600 single sleeved cards in its plush, real suede scarlet interior. Seven infernally strong magnets hold the lid in place and DO. NOT. BUDGE, even when completely full of cards and given a strenuous shake test. I could maybe see this box opening if you drop it from a fairly tall height…but that’s a pretty small corner case and not something most Magic players do on a daily basis.

The Dex Protection Supreme Game Chest is quite possibly, the best box out there for your cube right now on the market. It combines the carrying capacity of the Supreme One Row with Dex Protection’s Game Chest, fusing it together to create a box that can hold over 800 double-sleeved cards between the top and bottom compartments, not to mention a significant amount of dice and tokens in its two slide out trays. Like the Supreme One Row, the Supreme Game Chest has Dex Protection’s signature real red suede interior and a smooth, matte exterior. However, also like the Supreme One Row, the outside material also has a tendency to pick up marks and scuffs. It’s not terrible, but it was definitely noticeable after using after a few weeks. Definitely a disappointing feature given how useful and compact the Supreme Game Chest is in and of itself.

  • Professor, Anything than can hold 675-685 single-sleeved(Dragon shield)? Ultimate guard superhive says it can hold 650+ single sleeved. You think it could hold more like 680? Ty

  • While the Supreme Chest looks absolutely beautiful, I think the SuperHive satisfies my needs better. And realistically nobody's gonna be shaking the box like that lol thank you for the great review though!

  • anyone with a superhive know if it's possible to use the "playmat tray" for cards if they're vertical?

  • This video saved me money and headache. I needed something for the card kingdom starter cube I purchased (thanks for that recommendation too TCC) and I would have gone with a brand name ultimate guard choice over dex protection had it not been for this review. I am very happy with the "one row" I picked up as it is perfect for this need. I give this review an A+.

  • The small case is easier for magnets to hold shut, just like it was impossible for you to shake open the smaller Ultimate Guard single row case. Comparing apples to oranges man.

  • Why does dex protection strong magnet this giant box, but not their smaller ones? My smaller deck box also is tearing at the bending part pretty badly after only light use :/

  • The superhive now has better magnets. I put a bunch of silverware in mine and it didn't bust open at all, and the silverware didn't damage the inside. (I probably got lucky though, don't try this)

  • Pay attention to the foot notes at 10:18 re DeX inserts only holding 100 SINGLE sleeved, I missed it when watching the video and am pretty disappointed in Game Chest

  • I disagree about the super hive, paired with bolder deck boxes it's ideal for me as it carries everything I need for playing and the magnets aren't an issue since it goes from my backpack to flat on the table they're never tested. Ofcourse different people have different needs but I've used mine exclusively since the day it first arrived at my lgs and it's served me well

  • I don’t carry my super hive upside down so I don’t run into the problem shown here. I just put it in a bag and go about my day with no issues from it lol

  • I legit use a $37 gun case I bought online, it’s pretty good. Also fun to mess with my LGS when I walk in with a gun case.

  • I don't know if you got one from a bad batch or they saw your video and made changes, but I can shake my superhive 550+ for the life of me and it'd still not flip open. I've tried with a few cards and even with 10+ lbs of 8 deckboxes full of sleeved cards, 3 thick playmats and some tokens and the lit still won't budge.

After watching your (awesome)review, it was a concern to me because it was the only case I could easily get at a LGS. The magnets are pretty hardcore and take some force to separate. There are 5 points, so the lit is held together with 10 strong magnets.

So taking in consider the rest of your mentioned features, I must say that I'm pretty content with this gadget and it deserves a much higher grade IMHO. 😁

  • disappointed in ultimate guard on this one, especially since they have the strongest magnets in their flip box

  • i love those dex boxes, last week at the madison wisconsin magicfest/grand prix a really nice gentleman gave me a nice $7-$10 deck box for free and it's amazing. sure i'm a little biased but even my friends say it looks to be great quality before i tell them it was free so ye

  • Don't go off-roading with the superhive in tow. Got it. I also tend to not hold my deckboxes upside down because it seems like I'm tempting fate, so yeah, won't do that.

  • I think one of the smaller dex boxes would be good for me, considering I don't have a lot of loose cards & like stickering things so I don't think the scuffing would bother me. Honestly, probably means the stickers would stay better
